School Liaison Officer’s Message

Dear Marshall Families,

My name is Blanca Felix Guerrero, and I am the Army School Liaison Officer for the Monterey area. Welcome to the new school year! My goal is to ensure your child’s transition to Marshall Elementary (or any school in the area) is as smooth as possible. I understand the unique needs of military families and am here to connect you with resources, programs, and support systems to help your family succeed.

Marshall School and the surrounding community have a variety of services designed specifically to meet the needs of military-connected students and their families. As your School Liaison Officer (SLO), I provide the following:

  • Youth Sponsorship Program to help your child connect with peers before and after your move.
  • Before and after-school care options through the Porter Youth Center.
  • Access to tutoring programs to support academic success.
  • Military & Family Life Counselors (MFLC), providing non-medical counseling services.
  • Support for families in the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP).
  • Specialized meeting times for parents to address academic concerns with educators.
  • Assistance in communicating with schools regarding educational issues related to military transitions.

The mission of the Army School Liaison Program is to reduce barriers to academic success, promote parental involvement, and coordinate partnerships between military families and schools. I am here to empower parents with resources and provide tools to overcome challenges related to the military lifestyle.

If you have any questions or would like to meet with me, please feel free to reach out.

I look forward to an exciting and successful school year for all!

Naval Support Activity Monterey School Liaison's Message

Dear Marshall Families:

My name is Richard In and I am the Naval Support Activity Monterey School Liaison Officer. My hope is that your student has a smooth transition into Marshall Elementary. I know the importance of available resources, and providing answers to your questions will be my primary concern.

Marshall School has many resources which are tailored to meet the needs of all its students. As the Naval Support Activity Monterey School Liaison Officer, I offer the following services to military families:

  • Special needs communications liaison between military families and their school.
  • Scheduled meeting times available for parents to meet and to discuss their children’s academic concerns.
  • Working with students of military families to support academic and social needs arising from transition issues.

The goals of the military liaison program are to identify barriers to academic success and develop solutions; promote parental involvement in their children’s education; develop and coordinate military partnerships in education; provide parents with the tools they need to overcome obstacles to education that stem from the military lifestyle; and to promote and educate local communities and schools regarding the needs of military children.

If you have any questions or would like to meet with me please feel free to contact me.

I am looking forward to an exciting school year!

Yours truly,

Richard In
