Welcome to Kinder at Marshall Elementary

Posted Date: 07/20/26 (12:11 PM)

Dear Kindergarten Families,

Welcome to George C. Marshall Elementary! We are absolutely thrilled and deeply honored to be part of your child's early learning experience. As your child begins their educational journey, please know that we do not take this responsibility lightly. We are committed to making their kindergarten experience one filled with joy, discovery, and a true love for learning.

Our Kinder program is designed to nurture your child’s expansive curiosity about the world. Through exploration, play, intentional instruction and guided learning, students will grow socially, emotionally, and academically. All of this takes place in a safe and supportive environment that prioritizes both emotional well-being and physical safety. At Marshall, we believe that a joyful and engaging foundation is the key to long-term success. We are so excited to watch your child thrive and bloom in the year ahead.

To help kick off this exciting new chapter, we invite you to attend our TK and Kindergarten Meet and Greet on August 3 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. This event is a wonderful opportunity to meet our teachers, connect with other families, explore community resources, and tour the campus. We are proud to have four dedicated kindergarten classrooms, and believe that setting each child up for success takes thoughtful and intentional class building. While each child will have a homeroom teacher assigned for the first 7 days, rosters will not be finalized until August 14th. Details of this process can be found on the Kinder Onboarding below, but feel free to reach out with any questions you may have about this process.

Please also note the schedule during the first eight days of school. During this time, TK and Kindergarten students will follow an early release schedule, with dismissal at 12:50 PMThis differs from students in 1st-6th grade who will follow our typical school schedule attached. Following the first 8 days, the entire school will release early from school at 12:50 for the following week. This means you should plan for early release for your kinder from August 5th- August 21st. If your family needs support during the time between 12:50 and 2:25 during the first 8 days of school, please do not hesitate to reach out as we know it can be challenging to have students dismissed at differing time during these first 8 days. You are welcome to respond directly to this message or email me at rconnery@mpusd.k12.ca.us. Attached to this letter, you will find some helpful scheduling documents.

We are truly excited to welcome your family to our Marshall community. Thank you for trusting us with your child’s first steps into school. We cannot wait to see all that they will learn, experience, and become in the year ahead.

With warmth and excitement,

Robin Connery
Principal
